Meet the Photographer
Hey, my name is Haley Grantham
Growing up with parents who are artists made it easy for me as a child to daydream and immerse myself in the realm of fantasy and abstraction. It has enabled me to think the way I do today. Throughout my life, I have used this to my advantage to imagine the impossible and express these notions by bringing them into reality.
My work is a combination of both digital art and photography. Merging these two mediums with digital manipulation software and a camera creates a style called photo-manipulation. My focus is drawn to utilizing different elements of surrealism which creates a unique relationship of fantasy and abstract. Being able to alter a part of reality is what lead my mind to this type of artwork. Depending on the composition and atmosphere of the art I want to create, the lighting of the image is produced by either natural light or studio light. Using my own stock image, taken by the camera, I transfer it to Photoshop where I can manipulate, place overlays, and add eccentric patterns to create a more whimsical version of the original.
Having fantasy and abstract art as the biggest influences in my pieces, the type of work I do allows me to temporarily create distance between myself and the normality of the world.
